The Schoolhouse is home to The Mini Kids (2.5 – 3.5 years) and The Big Kids (3.5- 5 years)
It has two large rooms that each have a different focus of play and the children move throughout the rooms each day so that they are never in one environment for too long. A full and varied curriculum is used to occupy their inquisitive minds, which is balanced between child-initiated play and adult-led learning.
In these age groups, independence is promoted and encouraged but we will work alongside each individual child and work at their pace. We do not require any child to be potty trained or to stop having a nap by a specific age.
The Big Room
The Big Room is where the children’s creative instincts can be nurtured. As well as having areas for art, the children can play with sand, water and our own homemade playdoh. There are also construction and fine motor toys such as jigsaws, puzzles and board games as well as a reading corner.
The Imagination Room
Our imagination room is always a big hit with children! It has a home corner, shop corner, dressing up clothes, a construction table and an area for small world play. This room encourages child-led play and allows children the opportunity to expand their ever growing imagination alongside their friends.
As the children progress in their pre-school year we will encourage your child to develop the skills, confidence and independence needed to ease their transition into formal education. We are also able to provide wrap round care for local nurseries on request.
