Babies (0-18 months)

Our youngest children are cared for in the upstairs of The Castle. It is a baby-led unit meaning that each child’s routine is as flexible and individual as the children themselves. At this stage, children’s needs are constantly developing and as each child’s routine changes at home, we can mirror those changes in The Nursery.

Our two separate sleep rooms are equipped with full sized cots and constantly monitored.

Our experienced staff help each baby feel safe and content whilst gradually widening their horizons. During each day they will have opportunities to experiment with a wide variety of toys as well as with art materials, natural heuristic toys and sensory experiences.

The playroom has a cosy black and white area, independent toy shelves from where children can choose their own toys and a large mirror for the children to check out their expressions.

Stories and Songs are very important to us in The Nursery and we have designated times each day for reading, singing and dancing.

Toddlers (18-30 months)

The expanding imagination and curiosity of your child is catered for in three different rooms in The Castle. The children move through the different rooms during the day meaning that they are not in the same environment for very long.

The large playroom is used to promote gross motor skills as children at this age develop their confidence in movement. There is a climbing frame with slide, balancing beams, a trampoline, indoor trikes and push-along toys.

The smaller playroom is used to encourage fine motor skills. This room is equipped with a library and play kitchen as well as a rota of many other toys including heuristic items, jigsaws, train tracks, dolls and construction toys.

The messy room is a space for children to develop their creativity and sensory experiences. As well as homemade playdoh, sand and water play, the children will also spend time using a variety of art materials and sensory items. Monthly themes form the basis of art and craft activities.

Stories and Songs continue in The Toddlers at designated times throughout the day and all the children join in with the reading, singing and dancing.
